James Berardinelli commented: "On every level, The Omen isn't just bad filmmaking, it's bad storytelling". He especially criticized its similarity to the original movie, which he also greatly disliked.[15] Rolling Stone also made the latter point: "Not since Gus Van Sant inexplicably directed a shot-by-shot remake of Hitchcock's Psycho has a thriller been copied with so little point or impact".[16]

Roger Ebert gave the film a "thumbs up" and three stars out of four, in contrast to his negative review of the original, praising John Moore for letting the strong story unfold itself rather than foregrounding visual effects.[17] The Washington Post's Stephen Hunter praised the film: "It's handsome in the way it's fast-moving: sleek, well-engineered, full of gooses and honks. Some of the casting seems a little off. Still, it works."[18]

Following the grisly suicide of the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, 33-year-old international conglomerate CEO Damien Thorn is appointed in his place, an office his adoptive father, Robert Thorn, once held. Having fully embraced his unholy lineage and having run his company for seven years, Damien now attempts to reshape his destiny by halting the Second Coming of Christ.

True to the style of his first two scores, Goldsmith used an orchestral/choral blend with light electronic elements to create the film's sound, though unlike the soundtrack to Damien, The Final Conflict makes no pronounced reference to the original Omen theme "Ave Satani", which had earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song in 1976. Instead, Goldsmith composed an all-new theme for the character of Damien introduced during the opening credits which emphasized robust tragedy over the more horrific sound of its prequel scores. Goldsmith also composed a new theme for the rebirth of Christ first introduced at the end of "Main Title" and later given full Romantic treatment with orchestra and choir at the film's climax in "The Final Conflict".[4]

The Microsoft Windows-based remakes, Ys Eternal and its various updates, Ys Complete and Ys Chronicles, is a full-fledged remake in every area. It introduced an entirely different look and feel, such as the ability to run and attack in eight directions instead of the original's four. It greatly expanded the setting with dialogue, cutscenes, and even additional gameplay areas. Complete features a different soundtrack from Eternal made to match the soundtrack of Ys II Eternal, while the much later Chronicle update features new soundtracks for both games.

Square Enix released the short film Omen on 27th October 2016 when Final Fantasy XV was featured on Paris Games Week, to promote the game. It was created by Digic Pictures, the team behind the game's full-length companion movie Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. Parts of Omen are included in Final Fantasy XV if the player downloads the day one patch.

The movie progresses like a dream with Noctis feeling his fiancée Lunafreya Nox Fleuret's ghostly presence, and she is his reflection on various reflective surfaces. The voice of young Lunafreya asks a young Noctis to become the Chosen King, and he says "I guess I can do it." Noctis chases after Luna's white dog, Pryna, and crashes his car. He follows Pryna on foot, falling through floors and walls as he goes, eventually ending up in a fiery battle with Niflheim forces. His magic stops working and he steals a firearm from the opposition and topples a tower onto a magitek armor to keep fighting. His shirt is ripped to shreds and he momentarily appears as a fiery-eyed demon that is implied to have killed Luna. The dog he had been following takes a demonic appearance, implied to have been a deception to lead him astray all along.

The movie has a couple Easter eggs. When Noctis rides a subway full of magitek troopers, there is a poster on the wall of a gold disc and the text "Gone Gold". During the event the short film was shown, the development team also announced that Final Fantasy XV had "gone gold" (meaning the master version which would be printed on discs was done). There is also a job posting on the wall, looking to hire employees for a new Business Division 2 project, the Square Enix development team that made Final Fantasy XV. One of the MTs on the subway is reading a newspaper that has the Assassin's Creed logo on it; Digic Pictures has also worked with that series. In August 2017 it was revealed this Easter egg was an early hint for an upcoming collaboration between Square Enix and Ubisoft for Final Fantasy XV: Assassin's Festival.[1]

Time passes, and Robert becomes the assistant to the Ambassador to Great Britain. We start seeing various people on the street in what looks to be a setup for a Final Destination film as the Ambassador waits in his car. Boom! Robert is now the full Ambassador.

According to Mia Farrow, the scenes where Rosemary walks in front of traffic were spontaneous and genuine. Roman Polanski is reported to have told her that "nobody will hit a pregnant woman." The scene was successfully shot with Farrow walking into real traffic and Polanski following, operating the hand-held camera since he was the only one willing to do it.

This movie resurrected Ruth Gordon's career and she parlayed her Oscar winning success into a number of "funny old women" roles in movies throughout the 70s like Harold and Maude (1971) and My Bodyguard (1980).

The film is closely associated with The Exorcist (1973) and The Omen (1976). But whereas those movies both became big franchises, with many sequels and prequels and remakes between them, Rosemary's Baby only had one TV movie sequel which was a bomb and fizzled out, getting terrible ratings and reviews and never to be shown again, shutting down any ideas of a franchise.

At the end of the book Rosemary seriously considers killing Andy and then committing suicide for a few minutes, much like Terry did at the beginning of the novel under similar circumstances. She then takes pity on Andy, after seeing the terrified look on his face. After considering all the options she decides to raise Andy as her own. Even though he's a demon, she decides to love him and mother him and let her good natured human personality influence him, hopefully to do good ( "he's half Devil but half me after all!"). She also decides to report everything to the Pope and the Vatican, and to let them handle the issue as they see fit (whether that be executing Andy, forgiving him or trying to reform him). None of this is said in the movie; we just see Rosemary begin to rock the cradle and look at the baby inquisitively as the camera pulls back, the lullaby cues up on the soundtrack and the movie fades out and ends.
